Cargo Handling Facilities

Most of the facilities are railway connected. Warehouse capacity for 55.000 t of cargo and storage for 300.000 bags of sugar. There are no cranes; ship's gear is used. Lighters are available. Mechanical sugar loading equipment at Terminal Maritima. Discharge of heavy cargoes is carried out by means of pneumatics cranes with lift capacity of 60/80 t. The following equipment owned and operated by the port of Cienfuegos: - 9 cargo barges of 300 t each - 2 fuel barges of 300 t each - 1 water barge of 400 t - 1 floating crane of 35 t - 33 shore cranes (1 of 25 t, 1 of 70 t, 1 of 80 t, 16 of 16 t, 1 of 20 t, 3 of 25 t, 10 of 6/12 t) - 27 fork lifts. TRICONTINENTAL PIER: The E side of the pier is specially conditioned for loading bulk raw sugar and has two cranes, mounted on rails, that run along the pier, each one capable of loading 600 t p/h. In direct line with the pier is the parabolical warehouse, which is capable of holding 90.000 t of bulk sugar.
