BIMCO has received the following warning for ships operating in Southeast Asia.

To: All ships transiting in/off Sabah /Tawi Tawi/ Sulu Sea and surrounding waters

ASG planned kidnapping in Sabah/ coastal waters and Sulu sea
The IMB PRC has received information from Philippines intel that on 23/2000hrs Jan 18, ASG based in Sulu left the mangrove area of Sitio Bonsangil, Brgy Bato Ugis, Maimbung, Sulu aboard two pump boats speedboats coloured green and blue underway to SITIO PUNDUHAN, LAH, SITANGKAI, TAWI TAWI.
The group plans to conduct kidnapping targeting wealthy Chinese businessmen in SIAMAR, SEMPORNA, SABAH, Malaysia in the next five to ten days. Reports also indicated that, another group from Sitangkai will join them in the execution of said plan.
This group may opt to intercept vessels plying the SULU sea if they cannot execute their plans in SABAH.
Extreme caution is advised.
All ships are advised to maintain strict anti piracy watch and take additional measures.
Report all attacks to local authorities and to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre as per IMO CIR 1334.
