As a result of the number of recent security incidents over the last few days in the Gulf of Guinea, BIMCO reminds all members of the procedures and details for voluntary reporting.
States in the Gulf of Guinea region must take responsibility and step-up prosecution efforts when pirates are apprehended by international navies, following the release of three suspected pirates held in custody on board Danish frigate Esbern Snare.
Efforts to reduce piracy in Gulf of Guinea have so far had little effect.
