Marsden Point, New Zealand, Tops new BIMCO terminal vetting report

Marsden Point, New Zealand came out as the highest rated bulk terminal in BIMCOs Terminal Vetting Scheme. With 161 ships from 132 companies involved in the scheme, the report now covers 419 terminals globally. Just under 95% of the reports were rated average or better, which gave an average rating of 3.6 (out of five), suggesting positive trends for the future.

BIMCO has updated and restructured its port information database which provides the maritime industry with reliable information about port facilities, working hours and national holidays.

US and Canada issue Bulletin to combat Asian Gypsy Moth (AGM) invasion

Maritime Anti-Corruption Network launches survey on corrupt practices in Ukraine

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) has recently launched a survey concerning corrupt practices in Ukraine. Such practices may take many forms e.g. demands for facilitation payments (low level payments paid to low level government officials to complete routine tasks the company is entitled to), cash payments or in kind requests made by various port authorities.

BIMCO advises members to check clauses as Asian gypsy moth season starts

The Asian gypsy moth (AGM) flight season is just around the corner. BIMCO advises its members to pay attention to the possible consequences of calling at ports where the AGM is indigenous or established. ** ASIAN GYPSY MOTH IS NOW KNOWN AS FLIGHTED SPONGY MOTH COMPLEX ** Not all countries have introduced the new name yet, but BIMCO has decided to standardise on Flighted Spongy Moth Complex, abbreviated to FSMC.
