BIMCO Dry Bulk Cargo Network 2nd meeting

What to expect in the upcoming second meeting of the BIMCO Dry Bulk Cargo Network

Published: 11 April 2024

The BIMCO Dry Bulk Cargo Network had its first successful meeting early this year. With issues ranging from the use of proper cargo names and identifying dangerous goods to the shipment of UN 3077 cargoes under the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code, the second meeting promises to be even more engaging for owner members.

Interest in learning from each other by means of friendly discussions and open conversation was overwhelming, and at the first meeting on 6 February 2024, members jumped at the opportunity to vote on the topics for the next meeting.

It will be held on Thursday 16 May 2024, and the topics chosen by the network members are:

  • Dangerous and non-dangerous goods in solid form in bulk
  • Bulk Cargo Shipping Name (BCSN as in the IMSBC Code) and Proper Shipping Name (PSN as in the IMDG* Code)
  • Loading of UN 3077 EHS* cargoes. Documentation required as most flags have different views.

We encourage members to attend these meetings on a regular basis so that you can get to know each other. We are sure that this will lead to people being more comfortable about sharing knowledge and lead to even friendlier exchanges of information and discussions in the meetings, helping you with your dry bulk operations.
