Dry Bulk Cargoes Code – IMO adopts the next set of Amendments

Published: 27 November 2023

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted Amendment 07-23 to the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code in June 2023.

Amendment (Amdt) 07-23 will enter into mandatory force on 1 January 2025. However, contracting government states to the SOLAS convention can apply the amendments either in whole or in parts on a voluntary basis with effect from 1 January 2024.

In order to help you, we have prepared a whole new cargo database covering all the cargo descriptions and carriage requirements, including for 14 new cargoes. You can also find a summary of the amendments.

Note that with effect from 1 January 2024, there will be two amendments to the IMSBC Code running concurrently with each other: Amdt 06-21 (mandatory) and Amdt 07-23 (voluntary).

See the full detail in the BIMCO Cargo section/ cargo database/Amendment 07-23 and summary of amendments. Both are for BIMCO members only; if you do not have a BIMCO login but believe your company or organisation is a BIMCO member please get in touch with membership@bimco.org for assistance.
