The raw material is fragmented, dried and extruded into pellet form, then compressed to approximately one-third of its original volume. Very hard and not easily squashed. Colour: light blonde to chocolate brown. Moisture content: 6-10%. No additives or binders blended into the pellets normally.
This schedule applies also to cargoes that are produced with the use of up to 2% of oxide-based mineral additives such as calcium, magnesium and aluminium oxides. Bulk density: 600 - 700 kg/m 3.
Uses: fuel in district heating, electrical power generation, small space heaters such as stoves and fireplaces and animal bedding ( due to their absorption characteristics).
