Description

Also called "scrap" iron or steel; covering a wide range of ferrous metals, primarily intended for recycling. According to the IMSBC Code, this schedule may include articles from the size of car bodies to fine metal turnings ( swarf). Hence the weight of individual pieces will vary a lot ranging from heavy machinery to tin cans. Used in furnaces and steel making. Bulk density: varies.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When cargo contains swarf ( fine metal turnings liable to spontaneous combustion), reference is to be made to the cargo entry for FERROUS METAL BORINGS, SHAVINGS, TURNINGS or CUTTINGS UN 2793 of the IMSBC Code. |
