Is a powder (of limestone and clay), finely grounded but becomes fluid when aerated (i.e.,exposed to chemical reaction of air) or disturbed significantly, producing a very minimal angle of repose. Once loading is completed, de-aeration starts almost immediately and the product settles into a stable mass. Cement dust - major concern during loading and discharging if ship is not a cement carrier ( specially built) or the shore equipment is not of a special dust control type. Bulk density: 1,000 -1,493 kg/m3. Non-IMSBC Code information: cement contracts about 12% from state of aeration to non-aeration. Used in the construction of buildings and roads, and radiation shielding.
