USCG Ballast Water Management FAQ updates
Overview
The USCG Ballast Water Management regulations entered into force back in June 2012. The USCG have recently updated their 'Frequently Asked Questions' related to Ballast Water Management issues in the US.
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) have recently updated their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) relating to Ballast Water Management (BWM). They have also provided access to two powerpoint presentations; “BWM 101” - overview of the BWM program and a “BWM Update” on recent developments and activities, which include speaker notes for each slide providing general information on BWM issues in the US.
The updated FAQ document combines and updates a collection of previous FAQs. This document touches upon current topics, including compliance with USCG regulations, the type approval process for BWM systems and working with Independent Laboratories.
Please also refer to the updated LOI Register listing all BWMS manufacturers that have submitted Letter of Intent (LOI) for seeking US type approval to the Marine Safety Center.
