BIMCO has initiated work to develop a standard charter party for Accommodation Support Vessels (ASVs) to provide the industry with a balanced standard document that can be used in the offshore sectors.
The market for ASVs is on the rise with an increasing demand for ships every year, and there is currently no standard contract adequately addressing the special operations and services provided by ASVs.
The new charter party can be used in the offshore sector including the wind and oil and gas industries, thereby saving time and money for the parties.
Representatives from A2Sea, Floatel International, North Sea Shipbrokers, Noord Nederlandsche P&I Club, Ørsted, Siemens and Wagenborg are part of the project, and the first meeting of the subcommittee in charge of the project was held on 19 March at BIMCO House.
At the meeting, it was agreed that the best basis for creating the ASV charter party is BIMCO’s time charter party for offshore support vessels, SUPPLYTIME 2017, which is already being used for ASVs in an amended form.
The decision to draft a charter party for ASVs was made at the Documentary Committee meeting in Copenhagen in November last year. Drafting work will commence at the second meeting of the subcommittee planned for 28 May in Delfzijl, The Netherlands.
Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.
The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
