The IMSBC Code 2022 Amendments – what are they?

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has just published the latest International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code, incorporating Amendment 06-21, 2022 edition. If you are a BIMCO member, you can read all about these amendments in the BIMCO Cargo Database.

Due to COVID, the projected entry of the Amendment 06-21 to the IMSBC Code was delayed for a year, and finally adopted at the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee 105th meeting held in April 2022.

Amendment 06-21 will enter into force on 1 December 2023. Contracting member states to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1972, as amended (the SOLAS Convention) may however apply the amendment in whole or in part from 1 January 2023.

Please click here to find out more about what these amendments are and how BIMCO can assist members in getting ready for the new IMSBC Code. This includes a whole new cargo database covering Amdt 06-21 to run concurrently with the Amdt 05-19 cargo database which is the current amendment in force.
